Moravian Seminary is located in beautiful Bethlehem, PA, a city settled by Moravians in the early 1700s. Many of the town’s original buildings are still standing and some are in use today, including The Widows’ House (1768), which houses many full-time MTS students.
Bethlehem is home to both Moravian University and Lehigh University, making it a lively and engaging college town—full of arts, music (Musikfest! Celtic Classic!), restaurants, coffee shops, the oldest continuously running bookstore in the nation (Moravian Bookstore) and the converted Bethlehem Steel foundry (Artsquest).
Situated in the Lehigh Valley, Bethlehem is just a bus-ride to New York City and Philadelphia if big city lights are calling or a short drive to the Poconos for a hike on the Appalachian Trail.
Known as “Christmas City,” Bethlehem is a special tourist destination during the Advent season. Christmas markets, lights, entertainment, and nativity displays (putz) bring the holiday to life. The annual candlelight Moravian University Christmas Vespers held in Central Moravian Church in the heart of downtown Bethlehem is a wonderful way to celebrate the season.
